Cathal Conaty
Managing Director

Cathal Conaty serves as a Managing Director responsible for Portfolio Management. He is chairman of the Investment and Asset Management Committees, which approve and manage all IHS investments, including the R1.9bn South African Workforce Housing Fund.

Mr. Conaty brings extensive experience in residential property investment, spanning portfolio management, deal structuring and negotiation, financial engineering and the management of major renovation projects. In various positions over the past fifteen years, he has set up and managed private investment funds, served as a Regional Vice President of property management specializing in the turnaround of troubled properties, and represented investors’ interests in a variety of market-rate and subsidized properties.

Mr. Conaty holds an MBA from IESE, Barcelona, Spain and a BA from University College in Dublin, Ireland.

Hennie Erasmus
Chief Financial Officer

Hennie Erasmus joined IHS in January 2010 and is Chief Financial Officer and Head of Fund Management, responsible for accounting, treasury, corporate services, budgeting and financial reporting for the company, as well as overseeing fund administration. Prior to being appointed CFO in September 2018, he was responsible for cashflow modelling and fund administration at IHS. Prior to joining IHS, he was an audit manager for two years at KPMG. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce – Honours and Master of Commerce – Tax degrees from North-West University. He did his Articles at KPMG, servicing the information and consumer markets sector, and registered as a CA(SA) in 2008.

Rob Wesselo
Managing Director

Rob Wesselo is a Managing Director responsible for South Africa Operations, a post he has held since September 2010. He is responsible for sourcing investments, structuring and negotiating deals with developers and managing the operations of IHS in South Africa. Mr. Wesselo is also a member of the IHS Investment Committee. Before joining IHS, Mr. Wesselo was the Head of Commercial Property Finance (Property Investments) at ABSA Business Bank. He has held other property-focused positions such as Commercial Director at Pangbourne Properties and Head of Listed Property Funding at Rand Merchant Bank. He holds an LLB from Wits University.

Solly Mboweni
Head of Operations

Solly Mboweni is Head of Housing Operations, a position he has held since July 2014, with direct responsibility for the activities of the Deal Team and the Asset Management Team. Prior to joining IHS, he was the Head of ABSA Devco where he was responsible for managing the operations of ABSA Devco, the development company of ABSA bank that is responsible for Sustainable Integrated Housing Developments (SID) with assets under management of R2bn. He was at ABSA for 4 years in a number of senior positions, with responsibility for assets totaling approximately R15bn. He has also managed the property departments at Liberty Properties, and FNB. He obtained his BCom from University of Witwatersrand. He was until recently the Vice President of SAIBPP (South African Black Property Practitioners).

Stephanie Botha
Managing Director

Stephanie Botha is the recently appointed Managing Director of IHS Property Management but has been with IHS PM since 2013. Stephanie is responsible for operations within the property management business, which manages the majority of the properties in the funds managed by IHS across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Previously, Stephanie was the Financial Director of IHS Property Management, responsible for the full financial function of IHS PM, in addition Stephanie also previously headed up the financial operations of the properties being managed by IHS PM.  Mrs Botha has a broad range of property experience and has been working in the industry for the past 13 years. Stephanie also spent a few months in Sydney Australia working in fund accounting. Previous positions held by her includes the Financial Manager and Company Secretary at Fortress Income Fund Ltd and Debtors Manager at Zenprop Property Holdings. Stephanie has an Honours BCom Accounting degree and is a registered Chartered Accountant.
